Things we get asked a lot!

How Do I Join & Get Involved?

We’re always keen to encourage more people of all ages and abilities to get involved in surf lifesaving and the “life of the beach”. Depending on what part of club life you’re interested in – whether you’re an experienced life-saver, someone who wants to get fit, train as a volunteer lifeguard, or a parent of a potential “Nipper” we recommend you have a chat with one of our club officers who will offer advice and perhaps organise a visit to the club house (depending on the season). During the Summer season, feel free to rock up to one of our club nights on the beach to find out more.

Thereafter, it’s just a case of filling in the forms and sending them back to our membership secretary.

NB: our Nipper section is currently at capacity but please contact our Nipper Manager to reserve a place.

What age do my kids need to be to start "Nippers"

The youngest age (for safety reasons) we can accept Nippers is & years old. It’s usual for Nippers of this age to start by taking part in beach / sea activities in May of the year they reach 7 years. We encourage parents who are considering applying for their child to have them able to swim 50m unaided in a pool. It is obligatory, for this age group, that parents accompany their children into the sea – so make sure Mum & Dad have wetsuits too! More info here.

NB: our Nipper section is currently at capacity but please contact our Nipper Manager to reserve a place.

What are your Memberships fees?

The membership fee structure for 2014 is summarised below. Membership includes the £23 fee each member pays for SLSGB affiliation – which includes a raft of benefits and insurance cover for individuals and the club.

  • Nipper (7-12) – £43
  • Youth (13-19) – £48
  • Senior – £83
  • Associate Member – £28
  • Life Member – £20 (to cover SLSGB fee)
  • Family (2 adults & 2 children) £172
  • Large Family (2 adults & 3 or more children) £195
